Description

DA 120 EFI UAV Engine by HFE International comes complete with state of the art electronic fuel injection. The fuel injection provides operators the correct amount of fuel and spark advance during high performance flights.

Features a special magnet configuration mounted in the prop hub which allows for flipping of the prop for an easy start.

The ECM is powered by a single 3 cell Lipo battery of 1500mah or larger capacity. Total power draw is only 12 watts (1 amp) at full throttle.

The system is tested from sea level to 10,000 ft altitude and temperatures ranging from 10°F to 120°F.

Alternator System Options

Choose from the following alternator options, listed below.

500W Starter Alternator

This 3 phase brushless alternator direct drives on the engine crankshaft. The stator mounts to the crankshaft casing, with the rotor spinning on the crankshaft.

The system can be paired with a 500 W Power Management Unit, with an integrated starter controller, allowing the engine to start remotely. The PMU provides three lines with a chosen voltage in the range: 24 – 28 VDC at 12.5A or 350W max, 12 – 15 VDC at 9A or 108W, and 4.8 – 8 VDC at 8A or 42W.

Configurable with LiIon, LiPo, LifePO4, SLA, NiCad, NiMH, and Lead Acid Battery.

Custom Alternators

Custom options are available upon request.

Frequently Asked Questions About the DA 120 EFI UAV Engine

The DA 120 EFI produces 7.7 hp (5.75 kW) from 121 cc (7.4 ci), with a standard operating speed of 1,200 to 7,000 RPM. Electronic fuel injection sets the fuel quantity and spark advance across that range.

The engine weighs 4.95 lb (2.25 kg) with intake. The ECM adds 3.45 oz (98 g) and the fuel pump 5.29 oz (150 g). The optional 500 W alternator system weighs 7.31 lb (3.31 kg) and the muffler 10.5 oz (300 g).

A single 3-cell LiPo battery of 1,500 mAh or larger. The ECM draws 1 A peak, about 12 W at full throttle, so a 2,500 mAh battery covers roughly 2.5 hours of flight. A magnet set in the prop hub lets the propeller flip for easy starting.

Yes. The optional 500 W starter alternator drives directly on the crankshaft and pairs with a 500 W power management unit that includes a starter controller, so the engine can start remotely. The PMU supplies three lines: 24 to 28 VDC at 12.5 A (350 W max), 12 to 15 VDC at 9 A (108 W) and 4.8 to 8 VDC at 8 A (42 W). Custom alternators are available on request.

Yes. The GenPod 120 packages the DA 120 engine with its ECU, fuel pump, ignition, generator, vibration isolation, muffler and propeller as one line-replaceable unit. A field crew swaps the whole pod instead of repairing an engine on the flight line.

Yes. The DA 120 EFI MIL SPEC UAV Engine uses Currawong premium EFI hardware, is rated from -10°F to 120°F (-23°C to 49°C) and runs 400 hours between overhauls. The Currawong ECM is tested to MIL-STD-810 and adds cold-temperature operation to -40°C (-40°F), EMI and ESD filtering and RF shielding.
